hello beloved friends!
I have some big news, something that's been in the works for awhile now and that I'm so excited to share. Beloved Photography will now be known at Shannon Yau Photography. Why the change? You'll find the brief answer on my new blog (here!) but I will say that it was time for change. I will forever call this photography venture of mine an adventure and with that comes growth and change.
Beloved will always hold a soft spot in my heart but I'm so excited to share this new identity. It's beautifully crafted and feels so me. :)
So please go check out the new www.shannonyau.com and let me know what you think.
Oh, and don't forget to update your bookmarks!

Nicole and Aaron were married last weekend on what was pretty much the perfect summer day. Sun shining, blue skies, light breeze; you probably couldn't ask for anything more. It was a day filled with friends, family and many laughs. Nicole looked absolutely stunning and her dress, ah! so beautiful. Aaron, the dapper groom, had that look when he saw Nicole for the first time that gets me every time. I don't think I'll ever get bored of seeing that look.
Stories were told, games played, and many hugs given. The things weddings are made of and the things I feel privileged to witness. To finish it off I hitched a ride on the back of a golf cart, and that pretty much solidifies a good day in my books.

I am reminded on a daily basis of how small a world we live in. Case in point: Sarah and Craig. Craig and I went to elementary school together and our parents still live only a couple blocks apart. Is that how we connected for their wedding? Nope! That happened because Sarah's aunt works with Kyle's mom. Like I said, small world.

Sarah wanted to be an actress. She moved to New York, persuing her dream and then eventually ended up back home in Calgary. Craig had a party one night and guess who came with a mutual friend, Sarah of course; and as they say, the rest is history.
These two were married at the beautiful Heritage Pointe Golf Club. Unfortunately it started pouring only a few minutes before the ceremony was scheduled to start, fortunately they had a backup plan and were able to move everyone inside. The rain didn't last though and just as we started their photos this gorgeous post-storm sun came out.
This post has taken me awhile to get together because there were just so many photos I loved. Enjoy!

This handkerchief was Sarah's mom's from her own wedding!

Alicia and Allan. I adore these two. I think Alicia will go down in my books as my most organized bride, ever. Allan, when he looks at Alicia, grins from ear to ear. They're also the most laid back couple, case in point, Alicia may have slipped and fell flat on her back during their portraits; her response - laughter! The bridal party was great too, braving an army of mosquitos for me, and never once questioned my direction into even longer grass.

They were married a couple weekends ago, on a day where the threat of rain lingered. Mother nature was on our side though; with timing that couldn't have been more perfect, we stepped out of the car to begin their portraits to see the clouds part and the sun appear.
The day was double special for Alicia's family. She picked this day for her wedding because it was also her grandmother's birthday and they celebrated with an amazing cake, just for her!
It was such an honor to be there for this wedding, and I wish these two a lifetime of joy together.

They say rain on your wedding day is good luck; if so there were plenty of lucky couples out there yesterday, including Sarah and Craig. As always, the storm passed, the sun appeared, and it was the perfect wedding day.

More to come soon!
